Grandview Trail System

The Grandview Trail System is a premier hiking destination within the New River Gorge National Park & Preserve in West Virginia. Located near the town of Prince, the Grandview area offers approximately 6 miles of hiking trails that provide breathtaking views of the New River Gorge, diverse ecosystems, and rich cultural history. 

Grandview Rim Trail

  • Length: 1.6 miles one-way (3.2 miles round trip)

  • Difficulty: Moderate

  • Description: This trail connects the Main Overlook to the Turkey Spur Overlook, offering panoramic views of the gorge and river below. The trail features several small steep hills near Turkey Spur, making it a moderate hike. A self-guided trail brochure interprets the first half mile of this trail.

Grandview Trail

  • Length: Approximately 0.2 miles

  • Difficulty: Easy

  • Description: This short trail leads from the parking area to the Main Overlook, offering spectacular views of the New River Gorge.

Turkey Spur Trail

  • Length: Approximately 0.2 miles

  • Difficulty: Moderate

  • Description: This trail leads to the Turkey Spur Overlook, providing additional scenic views of the gorge.

Castle Rock Trail

  • Length: Approximately 0.5 miles

  • Difficulty: Moderate

  • Description: This trail leads to the Castle Rock Overlook, providing stunning views of the gorge. The trail includes a rocky section that may require careful navigation.
